Loons on Lake Bellaire

In 1997 there were approximately 286 loon pairs in Michigan. In 2006 that number dropped to 164 with 30% fewer chicks. There are two sets of loons on Lake Bellaire this summer, one in the north arm and the other (a couple of which are in the photo) in the south arm.
